The information needed to reload the findings of a patient are encoded in a “Computable Patient Summary”. This is now a clickable URL that allows you to click into the software with the patient findings already entered. Other information is also included:
- whether the care setting is primary, secondary or tertiary
- family history
- emergence speed of the illness
The clickable computable patient summaries are included in various reports accessible from the Report menu in the top black navigation bar:
You can paste the URL into your chart note, allowing the next clinician to build on your information without needing to re-enter it. Choose HTML or text according to what works for pasting into your document.
The ability to paste the computable patient summary makes an Electronic Health Record not just informative but also computational.
